My name is Amy Prickett and I am your school librarian! I've had the joy of teaching kindergarten, 3rd grade, and 5th grade before becoming the Cahaba Librarian in 2017. I love helping students discover the magic of reading and watching them grow as curious, confident learners every day.

• No overdue fines are charged.

• Kindergarten and 1st Grade Students:
  • Learn to ask questions and explore topics through books and read-alouds. 
  • Work with classmates durig libray time and activities
  • Begin learning how to choose and care for books
  • Develop curiosity and enjoy discovering new stories and facts. 
  • Practice taking responsibility for library materials.
• 2nd and 3rd Grade Students:  

  • Use books and digital tools to find answers and explore ideas 

  • Share ideas and learn with peers during library projects 

  • Learn to find, organize, and use information from multiple sources 

  • Follow personal interests through reading and research 

  • Act as responsible library users and contributors 

• 4th and 5th Grade Students:

  • Conduct simple research and evaluate sources for quality and accuracy 

  • Understand the importance of empathy and inclusion in information and storytelling 

  • Work in groups to create and present knowledge 

  • Manage information for class projects using organizational tools 

  • Read widely and think critically about what they learn 

  • Demonstrate ethical use of information and materials
