Joy Tyner, Principal

Meet Mrs. Joy Tyner, our dedicated Principal, who brings a passion for celebrating students, building relationships, and constantly pushing for excellence.

Mrs. Tyner is a seasoned educator with 38 years of experience, having served as an elementary teacher, assistant principal, and for 15 years as a principal. While elementary reading instruction has always been her instructional strength, her leadership niche lies in building a culture of community full of goal setting and personal growth for both staff and students. Mrs. Tyner earned her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Mississippi State University and holds two master's degrees from Mississippi College.

Connecting with all stakeholders to build strong teams that meet the individual needs of every student is paramount to her work. Outside of school, Mrs. Tyner enjoys spending time with her husband serving in the music ministry and teaching young adults at First Baptist Trussville. Their allegiance to all things Mississippi State runs deep, as does their love for boating and fishing. She looks forward to continuing to empower every member of the Cahaba Elementary Community as they grow together.
